(Formerly the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group, Cancer and Leukemia Group B, and the North Central Cancer Treatment Group)

The Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology is dedicated to answering important treatment questions through large-scale clinical trials. Through clinical trials and laboratory research, members are finding new ways to prevent, treat and cure many types of cancer, including leukemia and lymphoma, and cancers of the breast, prostate, lung and GI tract, and are helping to educate the medical community on methods of cancer diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.

Children’s Oncology Group (COG)

The Children’s Oncology Group (COG) is a National Cancer Institute (NCI) supported clinical trials group. It is the world’s largest organization devoted exclusively to childhood and adolescent cancer research. The COG unites more than 7,500 experts in childhood cancer at more than 200 leading children’s hospitals, universities, and cancer centers across North America, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe in the fight against childhood cancer.

ECOG-ACRIN Cancer Research Group (ECOG-ACRIN)

[Formerly the American College of Radiology Imaging Network (ACRIN) and the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG)]

This group conducts research focused on the full cancer care continuum. The group’s oncology research activities are focused in three core areas of emphasis: 1) early detection and diagnosis of cancer, 2) biomarker-driven Phase II and Phase III therapeutic studies for multiple cancer types and stages, and 3) genetic, molecular and imaging marker research to predict and monitor treatment response.

The Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG) is one of the National Cancer Institute's (NCI) funded cooperative cancer research groups. GOG is the only group which focuses its research on women with pelvic malignancies, such as cancer of the ovary, uterus, and cervix.

The National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP)

The National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP) is a clinical trials cooperative group supported since its inception by the National Cancer Institute (NCI). The group has a 50+-year history of designing and conducting clinical trials that have changed the way breast cancer is treated, and, more recently, prevented. It was the NSABP's breast cancer studies that led to the establishment of lumpectomy plus radiation over radical mastectomy as the standard surgical treatment for breast cancer.

Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG)

Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) is a national clinical cooperative group funded by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) since 1968 to increase the survival and improve the quality of life of patients diagnosed with cancer. The primary areas of research for RTOG investigators are brain tumors, head and neck cancer, lung cancer, cancers of the gastrointestinal system (esophagus, pancreas, rectum, anal canal and stomach), genitourinary tract cancers (bladder and prostate), sarcomas, gynecologic cancer (cervix), and breast cancer. The Group consists of both clinical and laboratory investigators from more than 360 institutions across the United States and Canada.
